Mass and heat balances. Heat transfer and its related equipment. Fluid mechanics: fluid properties, fluid flow behaviour and concepts. Bernoulli’s equation. Mass transfer. Role of bioprocess engineering processes: the use of cells and enzymes. effluent treatment)
 



Fermentation Technology BTE 4401

This course expose students to the principles of fermentation technology. The course covers several important aspects in fermentation technology such as isolation of microbe, strain improvement for industrial applications, media formulation and sterilisation process, inocula preparation, bioreactor design and process control in fermentation, fermentation kinetics, various modes of fermenter operation and modelling.
 
 


Reaction Kinetics Reactor Design KPM 4102

Types and degree of chemical and biochemical reaction; Interpretation of batch reactor data for homogenous reaction; Reactor design for homogenous reaction; Reactor design for heterogeneous reaction; solid catalysed reaction; Microbial kinetics and dynamics; Biological reactor system.

Students are required to perform laboratory work on the topics of Pengukuran Aliran, Pengukuran Tekanan, Amali Bernouli, Pam dan Injap, Kehilangan Rintangan dalam Paip, Keseimbangan Wap Cecair, Sistem Pemanasan dan Pendinginan dalam Pendidih Pemampat Dua-Tahap and Sistem Penyejukan dan Kriogenik.


Chemical Engineering Laboratory II KKA 3702

Students are required to perform laboratory work on the topics Penurasan Vakum, Penyarian Cecair-cecair, Penyerapan dalam Turus Terpadat, Pemindahan Haba dalam Kelompang dan Tiub, Pemindahan Haba dalam Tiub, Sistem Lapisan Terbendalir, Ujian Bahan, Alatan Pengelolaan Pepejal.
