GRADUATE PROGRAMMES

Applications are opened to all qualified prospective students to enroll in the following graduate programmes at the Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM):

• Doctor of Philosophy (PHD)
• Doctor of Engineering(DEng) - Local Only
• Master with Thesis
• Master without Thesis

Graduate programmes with thesis are targeted for students who are interested in research work and wish to continue their career as researchers or academics. Students who enroll in these programmes are required to take advanced courses and also produce a thesis at the end of their study period. Students are subjected to a basic fee at the amount that is determined by the University at every semester registration.

Graduate programmes without thesis are targeted for students that have long left the university or working professionals who wish to upgrade their knowledge by taking advanced professional skilled courses without involvement in research.

Students who enroll in these programmes are required to take advanced courses that had been specified and also produce a project paper at the end of their study period. Students are subjected to a basic fee at the amount that is determined by the University and a course fee at every semester registration.

CREDIT REQUIREMENT AND STUDY DURATION

Doctor of Philosophy (PHD)

• Minimum of 2 years(4 semesters) and maximum of 5 years(10 semesters).


Doctor of Engineering (DEng)

• Minimum of 2½ years(5 semesters) and maximum of 5 years(10 semesters).


Master with Thesis

• Minimum of 1½  years(3 semesters) and maximum of 3 years(6 semesters).


 Master without Thesis

• Students enrolling under this programme must fulfill a minimum of 40 credits of coursework. 
• Minimum of 1½ years(3 semesters) and maximum of 2 years(4 semesters).
